CRESM - Centro Ricerche
Economiche e Sociali per il Meridione
Corporate identity and website
CRESM, the Centre for Social and Economic Research in Southern Italy, is a non-profit organization with decennial experience in local development planning, immigration, social inclusion and community regeneration. For the graphic strategy for CRESM, we work on their incredible history of engagement with the territory digging for documents and visual material that could signify such bond.
This social enterprise, based in Sicily, has a long history in political activism and educational practices strongly rooted in the earthquake that destroyed the Belìce Valley in 1968. CRESM works with vulnerable groups (little farmers, immigrants, prisoners and disabled people) in disadvantaged areas, both in Italy and the Mediterranean. But we also work in urban areas (eg. Palermo) with young people, schools, and communities.
To renovate their website, we designed graphic solutions related to this powerful happening. The web pages background is a contour lines map of the Sicilian volcanic territory, inspired by the mockups used for the urban reconstruction projects. The fonts are bold and simple. Colours are limited to green, black and white to express the values of CRESM: integrity, responsibility, and determination.
